Bitten Apple _ Studio 14 Lockdown Residency

This project emerges directly from lockdown and social distancing disruption, which forced me to put on put on hold my shared studio. I was offered of the Spaces for Creatives residency studio in Eade Studios.

In the Studio no 14 at Eade Road Studios, I began experimenting with spatial installations using suggestive objects, sound, movement light and sound. These works function as “prototypes of ideas” — evocative and eerie three-dimensional compositions that through atmosphere suggest narrative without relying on text.

As the metropolis life stopped and the natural environment visibly flourished, I found it profoundly thoughts provoking around existential questions, interconnectivity, the fragile and complex balance that sustains life on Earth. It was a pivotal moment and it reflected in immersive visual language and the whole new world, which I discovered in the new studio space.

Shortly after the pandemic, my mother suffered a stroke and became disabled. This situation required me to pause my career to provide care. This experience deepened my understanding of vulnerability, impermanence and resilience, which are the core themes within this project.

The scale and solitude of the space opened new possibilities. What began as an instinctive response to restriction gradually evolved into a deeper artistic shift toward  ideas of theatrical and performative visual language.

One of these configurations, Uniformed Individual (working version recordings) brings together multiple elements into a site-responsive environment. A smaller version of one of the scenic (site specific) installation was exhibited at the Museum of Art in Częstochowa (Poland) during the international art festival The Bridges (October–November 2022).
